3/4 Empty

Times are dark. Artistic expression is outlawed. With hopeful desperation, a pair of former artists gather in the dark and find sanctuary in an eight foot box. How much would you risk in the name of art?

Justice and Johnathan, a mighty company of two, connected through their work at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. By day, Justice is a stage manager; Johanthan a carpenter. The two have an interest in non-traditional applications of theatre and are thrilled to participate in Theatre Crude where they can share their belief in art's capacity for healing and fostering community. Also: getting weird!

CYRANO A-GO-GO

BY: AUDACITY THEATRE LAB'S BRAD MCENTIRE

CYRANO A-GO-GO quote graphic.jpg

Cyrano A-Go-Go is an exploration of one restless theatre artist's fascination with the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. A chance encounter with the script at a suburban library at the age of fifteen leads McEntire into a wonderful, and sometimes elusive, calling. Mixing the personal, historical and literary into a journey through Rostand's play McEntire puts a funny, warm, insightful spin on the usual coming-of-age one-man show.

Brad McEntire is a Texas native and works primarily as a playwright, solo performer and director. For the last several years, McEntire has toured his original one-person shows Cyrano A-Go-Go, Chop, Robert's Eternal Goldfish and The Beast of Hyperborea to venues and festivals all over North America. Since 2008 he has served as artistic director of the small-batch theatre company Audacity Theatre Lab. Audacity is a small, scrappy and fiercely independent theatre collective based in Dallas, Texas.

Gravel Road Show Presents Oklahoma, USA!
Gravel Road Show_2019_promo pic.jpg

Direct from the American Frontier, the infamous Gravel Road Show presents Oklahoma, U.S.A!, a world-premiere cabaret featuring clown, music, theatre, and a twisted history all set in the Wild West. In a bizarre homage/parody of the musical Oklahoma!, this production crosses a border into the strange. Curious and courageous, they are not afraid to fail!

‘I’m impressed by this group’s willingness to bewilder.’ – FEST

‘A fascinating, thought-provoking show…in a toe-curling way.’ – FRINGE

Born and bred in the red dirt of Oklahoma, the Gravel Road Show, led by Dr. Kato M. T. Buss, are a troupe of performers who toil away in clowning and devising. Created in 2015, Buss and students from the University of Central Oklahoma develop original performance pieces for the the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. This summer, the Gravel Road Show returned to Edinburgh with its fourth theatrical incarnation.

JAMIE CAMPBELL: PROFESSIONAL IDIOT

BY: JAMIE CAMPBELL

Jamie Image 1.png
Jamie Image 4.jpg

Jamie Campbell is an idiot by trade. In his latest solo performance, the nationally-touring stand-up comedian opens up about jobs he attempted on his way to a comedy career, the realization that he may never become a father, and all of the reasons he should already be dead. He takes a bold leap in his Bucket of Dumb segment, riffing on topics chosen by the audience. Come see the comedian that Dan Telfer of Comedy Central and Mad Magazine called a "Bombastic genius!" and ChicagoNow praised for his "quick wit and inventive riffing."

Jamie Campbell is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. A veteran of over 30 comedy and Fringe festivals, his performances have garnered multiple awards, including "Best of Fringe" in Kansas City and Tucson, and "Best Stand-up or Variety Performance" by San Antonio's Bexar Stage. In Chicago, where he began his career, he was named the city's "Best Stand-Up Comedian" by The Chicago Reader. His debut album, Tell Me You're Proud of Me, debuted at #1 on Amazon's comedy charts. His film and television work includes appearances on ABC, NBC, Netflix, TruTV, and the Pop Network. He has shared the stage or worked on projects with countless legendary names in comedy and entertainment, including Hannibal Buress, Cameron Esposito, Oscar Isaac, Chris Redd, Scott Adsit, Ty Burrell, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Alicia Keys, Tech N9ne, and Dana Carvey.

SWEATER CURSE: A YARN ABOUT LOVE

BY: ELAINE LINER

Sweater Curse: A Yarn Abot Love

Knitting and comedy intertwine in this smart five-star festival hit about unraveled romances, unrivaled literature and life's knottiest dilemmas. All you knit is love for an hour that BroadwayBaby.com describes as "full of wit...told with style and elegance." TheaterJones.com says it's "a purl jam that will have you in stitches!" Dallas News: "Like listening to a friend who really needs to tell you some stories." Come early to add rows to the "traveling scarf." Bring your knitting. Hookers welcomed (you know who I mean).

Elaine Liner is a Dallas-based playwright/performer who debuted her solo show Sweater Curse: A Yarn about Love at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe. She's also performed at Dallas Solo Fest, New Orleans Fringe, San Antonio Classic Theatre, Granbury Opera House and many other venues. A former journalist, Elaine is a member of the Dramatists Guild and often teaches publicity workshops for other artists. If you see a white-haired lady knitting in public, it's probably her.

THE ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE THEATRE SUMMIT

BY: NEXT STAGE

The Ultra Conservative Theatre Summit

Somewhere in the Midwest, well-meaning theatre lover, Jim Turner, puts on a play festival dedicated to ultra-conservative propaganda. Celebrating stalwart traditional values, the festival aims to show the dangers of liberal thinking. But can an art form known for being progressive really be used to advance a right wing bill of sale? From gender identity to individual freedoms, The Ultra-Conservative Theatre Summit allows the elephant in the room to take center stage.

Next Stage is an OKC-based theatre troupe dedicated to original and semi-original live performance.

WE STAN TOGETHER

BY: WE STAN TOGETHER

We Stan Together
We Stan Together Show Image 2.jpg

Stan| Noun or Verb (stans, stanning, stanned)

An overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.

Caitlin Bitzegaio & Lauren Brickman bring their pop culture expertise to the UCB stage each month to unpack and celebrate the most important pop culture news, fan theories, and Instagram stories that they can’t stop thinking about and, frankly, you can't either. Think about it like TEDTalks for people who've binged minimum 60% of all Shonda shows, slide in DMs with photos from Sarah Michelle Gellar’s insta and still think about Pacey Witter. Often. Have you read every Yelp review of SUR lounge? This is the show for you. We Stan Together.

Lauren Brickman and Caitlin Bitzegaio are NYC based artists who met through The Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre where We Stan Together was born. Outside of their various UCB credits they have both had wild and varied careers. Caitlin's recent television writing credits include The Rundown with Robin Thede on BET, Impractical Jokers, and Project Runway (wild, right?) Check out caitbitz.com! Lauren has appeared on the TV shows BULL (CBS), Alternatino (Comedy Central), the feature film Gloria (with Julianne moore), and Off Broadway in Lisa Lampanelli's play STUFFED. You can find out more about this former Oklahoma gal (who still has a 405 number!) at LaurenBrickman.com and you can keep up with the show by following us on instagram @westantogether4ever
