The Battle of Cable Street
by Co.llective Arts Productions
Written by Jake Allen
This piece of epic theatre uses direct quotes and fictionalized scenes to explore the rise of fascism in the U.K. and the direct actions taken by citizens to stop it. The Battle of Cable Street tells the forgotten story of a moment of Jewish triumph over fascism in 1930’s London.
Jake Allen is an organizer, dramaturg, and playwright. Jake wrote The Battle of Cable Street as a part of his mission to seek out moments in Jewish and working-class history that articulates empowerment over victimization.
Co.llective Arts Productions (Co.Arts, to friends) is a performance collective that workshops and produces new works by young artists in Norman, OK.

The Big Voices Project
by Perpetual Motion Dance
The Big Voices Project will facilitate meaningful intersection between military communities, artists, and the public to raise awareness about the unique personal experiences of those who have served or who have been impacted in some way. Perpetual Motion Dance strives to create opportunities and provide a platform for military-connected individuals who are practicing movement artists or interested in expressing their stories through movement. Specific benefits to military-connected participating individuals include: the opportunity to build movement skills that range from conventional floorwork to aerial skills using suspended apparati such as trapeze, silks/hammock, or lyra; access to work with experienced performance artists in a suitable rehearsal space in order to create new works of art that speak directly to the military communities; and recognition and validation through heightened visibility in the broader community about the experiences of military-connected segments. It is our hope that this project will inspire other organizations to dedicate resources to leading successful arts and military projects themselves. Finally, The Big Voices Project seeks to reach diverse groups within the military community by partnering with women veterans, veterans representing diverse ethnic or cultural groups, and veterans with disabilities, as well as veterans and military-connected individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Perpetual Motion Dance is a modern and aerial dance company based in Oklahoma City with a mission to “create, develop and inspire innovative dance.” They blend post modern and aerial dance techniques with a signature grace and technical ingenuity to create dance on all planes. Perpetual Motion Dance is in their 20th season of creating annual original concerts in addition to regional and national touring.
The recent original concerts of Perpetual Motion Dance include "Y20" (2022), “REWIND” (2020-21), “əˈstrā” (2019), “Cora’s Door” (2018), developed and inspired by time spent at Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return, “Quinze” (2017), excerpts performed at Meow Wolf - Santa Fe, NM, “Wanderlust” (2016), performed at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma State University Seretean Theater in Stillwater, OK; “Fault Line” (2015), a collaboration with Perpetual Motion Dance, welder Joey Smith and video animation artist Kyle Van Osdol, performed at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City, Tulsa SummerStage (June 2015) and the Houston Fringe Festival (awarded Best Dance Performance in Festival); KINETIC (2014) performed at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City and an excerpt performed at the National Performance Network annual conference; and “Water Won’t Wait” (2013) performed at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City, ReCreation Studios in Little Rock, AR, and “Live at the Crossroads” in Kansas City.
In addition to presenting original concerts and tours, Perpetual Motion Dance is committed to educating both adults and youth through classes, workshops, and residencies. In August 2006, Perpetual Motion organized the first annual Oklahoma Contemporary Dance Festival, which brings together regional choreographers with performers of all ages and backgrounds.

Díthyrambos
by Andy Mangano
With this short animated film, Andy Mangano presents their senior thesis for BFA in Animation at Woodbury University. Their goal with this film was to push their personal boundaries of what they are able to create.
"When I was working on my graduation thesis for the state exams in Italy, I specifically discussed the relationship between art and catharsis. I started researching its very early origin. I found this interesting analysis regarding the ancient cult of Dionysus, and how people were associating their subconscious as a bridge to the divine. With my film, I want to appeal to a part of ourselves buried deep inside, that part we carry within us for millenniums, out humanity and its meaning. I want my film to feel like the audience is walking in a painting, like they are part of the painting, a dreamlike sensation."
I grew up in Sicily, Italy, where I studied Philosophy, History, Grammar, and Literature. There I also won various regional dance sport competitions (Ballroom and Choreo) and became a published, award-winning poet with "La Balena di Ghiaccio." I was a self-taught artist until I moved back to the States in 2016, where I enrolled as an animation student in California. I choose the visual arts as my career because I see the power of media, and how much it can teach people about cultures and situations different than their own. I want to help create a more inclusive media environment where all people can feel valued in our global community.

Emergentheatre:
black feminist systems change
Methodology Note:
Emergentheatre (ET) is a black feminist framework for systems change that has surfaced into the public sphere by way of the South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC) (2020, 2021), Alternate ROOTS (2021, 2022), the Allied Media Conference (2022), and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) (2022). ET posits improvisation, embodiment, and form as three practical entry points into black feminist systems shaping through relationship to self, to one another, and to the world around us.
Eli Bradley is a theatermaker, general social gadfly, and MA student in Theater & Performance Studies at Wash U in St Louis. They aim to inspire community development through intergenerational theater and the staging of provocative circumstances as a means of building a shared future.
Justice von Maur is a black feminist theatremaker, facilitator, and theorist from Nassau, Bahamas. OKCers might know Justice through her stage management work with The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma (2018-2020) or her performance in the inaugural Theatre Crude Fringe Festival (2019). Today, Justice coordinates community outreach for the Savannah Children's Theatre and organizes cultural programming for emerging artists at Alternate ROOTS, a radical arts non-profit.

Neechie-Itas
by Oklahoma Indigenous Theatre Company
Written by Jo MacDonald (Anishinaabe)
Somewhere in a Canadinan province, jilted bride Spencer marks each year of her would be wedding date in her apartment, dressed in her $5000 wedding dress, binge-watching period piece movies. To cheer her up, her Neechies plan a weekend of nightlife and dancing. Instead, chaos ensues when Spencer's ex-fiancé appears at the dance club, and a mysterious arrow is fired narrowly missing him. Probable cause lands the Neechies in jail for questioning by police. Jo MacDonald writes Indigenous comedy gold to explore the consequences of keeping secrets, value of loyalty and Indigenous sisterhood.
Neechie-Itas was adapted from Jo’s stage play into digi-theatre and produced 100% virtually using Stream Yard. Daniel Leeman Smith, filmographer and digital designer, enhanced the storytelling with still photography, SFX, b-roll cut-aways, original songs from the iconic female drum group Mankillers and more. The Neechies made their international debut during the Vancouver Fringe Online Festival, September 2021 and since then, have streamed on demand. A Portion For Foxes
by Holly McNatt
Happy endings, particularly in romances, are very satisfying. Once declarations of love between the two characters take place, the story usually ends, and we’re okay with that. They got together, that’s what we needed to know.
However, while not nearly as sexy or exciting as “will they or won’t they?” there’s the lingering question of, “well, what happens next?” Truth be told, falling in love is easy. Staying in love is what’s hard. And the intrigue comes in what they’re willing to sacrifice in order to make it work. In short, A Portion For Foxes explores this notion, the epilogue of a great love story, the Happily Ever Afterward.
Holly McNatt is a local actor and writer who has been frequenting the stages of OKC for the past 15 years. She produced her first full length play, Blueprints for a Breakup, in 2017. With Theatre Crude, she directed The Ultra Conservative Theatre Summit in 2019 and wrote/acted in Kissing Booth in 2021.
